south Tampa, Carollwood, Palm Harbor.....

At the hanging around stage of above areas (not used broker yet) and they're all (IMO) SO nice. Small family here (middle schools +) and need to narrow down where to rent/ buy.

Commute no issue (at the moment).....

Looking for residents opinions on favorite areas of these and pro vs. con. Thanks much.

Depends... if you want your neighborhood to flood all the time and pay absurd insurance costs, move to shore acres

Old Northeast is nice and all, but you will have a very old house for a very lot of money. You have to remember most of these homes were designed/built without central AC, some have aluminum wiring and really old plumbing, chances are you will have to cross one of the bridges to get to work... no thanks

I would rather live in Westchase personally.

071402, I apologize on behalf of the majority of people in this forum. Some people here have the unfortunate combination of poor reading comprehension and far too much time on their hands.

I know! This is what i was thinking (although we'd be renters for now) about floods and insurance too, it's just so NICE in both Old N and Shore Acres. Thanks for input. Might check some hoods that are further inland of ON and SA, not sure what they're even like.

It depends on what your priorities are and where you spend your time. The insurance may be more expensive in NE St Pete, although I am pretty sure that I pay less for my 50+ year old waterfront house in Shore Acres than the equivalently-valued home in Waterchase (the waterfront subdivision of Westchase).

My street has flooded exactly once in the past 5 years, during Debby earlier this year.

Depending on where you are driving, you will save significant time and gas compared to Westchase. NE St Pete to/from downtown Tampa is 25 minutes on a Friday afternoon, versus 40-50 to/from Westchase. It's also 15 minutes or less to/from downtown St Pete, versus an hour from Westchase. The only time I have ever seen the Gandy Bridge backed up was when the Howard Frankland was closed due to a major accident.

My modest opinion....
Westchase is dead ... typical suburb. I wouldn't live there for the world. Old NE is close to ALIVE SP and you can go anywhere in minutes. I couldn't unfortunately afford it, but I live close to downtown (SP!)
So it depends what you like... and where you work.
