How many gallons of water are you using per DAY on average (Tampa: how much, house)

Our water bill states we are averaging 540 gallons of water per day. This seems outrageous, as we only have two people in the house.

How much is your average daily usage?

My bill says 5 thousand gallons for the 30 day cycle.....also 2 people in the house.

I got my fist bill and it says we used 34,000 gallons for the month. 3.5 baths, 4 people in the house, I did top off the pool (only about 2" of water just to keep the level high enough for the filter to run).

I did run the irrigation (it's programmed to run one day per week as we are on water restrictions).

Irrigation is staying off for this month and the pool level is just fine, so I can establish a baseline.

The bill is only like $85, so I am not dramatically upset. My coworker lives over in Clermont got a $600 bill one month because he used 150K gallons due to an underground irrigation leak.

No pool and I only water occasionaly....don't use dishwaher- we do shower together as much as possible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ya know- to conserve water!!!!!!!!!!!!!! not!

In 2010, I used 27,600 gallons in St Pete (pool fill-up month). My resulting water-related charges were $317 for water/Tampa Bay Water/sewer and $20 for taxes. That's $337. (The sewer portion of the charges were later reduced because I showed that it was due to an initial pool fill).

Once you cross the 20k/month threshold, all-in water prices double to 1.7 cents/gal, or $17 per 1k gallons (2010 pricing).

I do not believe the above poster who claims that 34k gallons costs $85 in Spring Hill. Are you also including the matching sewer and TBW charges?

You either have a leak or your neighbor is connected to your meter. I have a pool that requires frequent top-offs and have had house guests plus multiple toilets running continuously before I fixed them. My largest monthly usage was under 10k gal.

Believe what you want. I'm not claiming anything. It's what the bill says.

I have septic, not sewer. Perhaps that explains it.

$80 bucks for 34K gallon is unheard of over here. Do you have a farm, in Spring Hill, to use so much ?

I have no idea what the cause is, so as I posted above I turned off the irrigation and am not going to top off the pool or do anything else that would constitute anything but "normal" water usage so I can try and see what the cause was.
