4 Mil is not enough to protect our kids lives! You can't put a price tag on their lives.

These are educational facilities, meant for "learning", and not maximum security prisons! Someone will need to take a long hard look at that 2nd amendment because it sure looks like it sort of went off the handle a bit. We no longer use Bayonets.

If teachers, and principals will carry weapons, our kids will be home schooled. That is all I hear from parents at our school. I haven't found one parent in favor of "arming" the principal. We refuse to send our kids to a schools that has weapons on its premises.

You must be able to realize at some level that guns are/were meant for violence, and not applying make up, and realize that not everyone agrees with this much weaponry carried around in peace times, and on a school premise no less!

What's next? all homes built with bullet proof windows, all cars built bullet proof; what is the goal here is what I am curious about; what are we looking to accomplish exactly.

I am not sure i agree with what appears to be the majority. I will ask you this..

Why dont they shoot down courthouses?

Why not police stations? Or any other place they know there is a chance there will be a gun.

Why do they always seem to pick places where they know for sure there is no guns, like gun free-zone, i.e. schools, churches.?

It's no whether the rookie guard can stop the nut, it's that it removes the 'come and shoot' sign from schools.

To those unknowing souls who support banning guns, you want to avoid gun deaths, yet genocide by governments on un-armed citizens top 170 million in the last century. Get any other figures that come close to that.

My 2 cents.

I hate to tell you, but all this hunt for nutjobs will have to start right back in schools. These people were kids at some point who fell through the cracks. Be it by not making it educationally, having learning disabilities etc. All this stuff piles up on someone who does not have a good home/school support system in place to help them through. Help them discover if they have any learning disabilities, or other problems. Its like preventive medicine, you get checked up with some frequency, so you don't get slammed with something huge all at once.

If their problems are not discovered in time to be addressed, these people will end up going sideways. Add to that the easy access to guns, and there you go: Connecticut.

Parents need to become more responsible. Obviously in the light of recent, and pretty frequent events this passed year, people do need to realize that time has come to do something to prevent this types of events from happening. Selling more guns will only encourage more of these events to happen.

How do we do this without infringing on the rights of millions of people? Glad I'm not responsible for coming up with the answer for that dilemma.
Education needs more money to educate, not arm. The better the kids get educated the less these events will happen. It is our society as a whole that needs to work together to solve this problem. Think about it...unemployment, family problems, money, medical bills,...all these factor in on people's well being...someone doesn't even have to be a nutjob to start shooting people...didn't you see that guy who shot those people in a hair salon cause he was jealous on his former girlfriend.

Not enough sensationalism in a courthouse...Plus, they'd be shooting at a lot of their own friends; think about it.

I thought their friends are the leftists, trying to make schools of the whole nation?

Now the majority of the country will have a 'shoot me in the face' sign. Yes?

We should just arm the kids. How many school shootings do you see in the Sudan, Congo, Sierra Leon? In those countries the children carry AK-47's from a very early age, right after they are abducted by the local warlord. Who is going to shoot up a school full of children with ak's high on coke and gunpowder?

The reason why "nutjobs" don't shoot up courthouses and police stations is because they have cops there, not some random dude with a gun and 4 hour training course. Every other social ill we encountered as a society we deal with it by increasing awareness, penalties, restrictions, etc. Somehow in this case we have a segment of the population that refuses to accept any compromise, any reform, by all means lets not infringe on your god given right to carry a musket.

Not sure what compromise we are referring to.

The constitution says the creator has given us life and the right to defend it. I personally have zero guns, but this gves me the choice of doing so if i deem it necesary. But it is a right and a choice, not a compromise. If an amendment is passed, citizens will compromise.

Note that the biggest casualties by guns and bullets were not people against people, it's been governments agaisnt un-armed citizens. More people die by alcohol.

Oh and for a long long time, there has been a high rate of murder within young black men.

Compromise to me, would be gun control without loopholes, and I guess we will see, so far all the rhetoric I hear is how we already have the laws in place, i.e. "we have laws against murder, people still kill each other". I don't have a problem with people owning guns, I have a problem with people owning arsenals, concealed weapons, private sales that don't require registration, lack of screening, lack of training, all the well known loopholes/inadequacies in current gun control legislation. I think most people feel that we need stronger gun laws, also with the understanding that no one single thing is going to do it, its going to take a concerted effort from all angles.
I am not sure if you are talking about civil war type scenarios, the goverment has tanks, planes, drones etc, no assault weapon is going to protect you from that, as exemplified by Syria.
I for one not a believer that Young Black Man are just prone to killing each other because of some intrinsic factor, therefore we cant address that as a society. The maximum penalty for gun smuggling is 10 years, gun dealers get off easier than that, we persecute the bartender when someone drives drunk and kills people, yet the illegal gun dealers are not, increase penalties on all gun charges, any kind of gun dealing that violates laws should be an end game type of sentence whether is carrying, discharging, selling.

It sure looks like the NRA is trying hard to turn us into a 3rd world country.
