Hi,

I work in Fort Myers, Florida but I understand the school district in that area are not good. so I thought of moving to DFW area and do a weekly commute to Florida. which is a 1.5 to 2 hrs commute by plane.

I checked moving to Tampa, FL but understand that the schools are not good in that city too.

Have you been in similar situation? Pls. suggest?

Thanks

Normally, I would say life in Texas at this point is MUCH better than Florida.

However, if you have a job in Ft. Myers, why don't you just move into a good district or find a what neighborhoods are zoned for good schools and move there? I'm sure you could afford it if you're willing to fly to Dallas all the time!

You can't rule out an entire metro area because the schools "aren't good"....

whatta bunch of ridiculousness. Like any city in the country, Tampa has got some good schools and some bad schools (duh!)......research which schools are good....and then think about moving into that district.

It's silly of you to think the there are no good schools in Tampa. ./ .

Umm, yes there are. Have u done a lick of research? Doubtful.....

Vivian Gaither HS comes to mind, great school.
DeSoto HS- Great school. . . .

lots of good........and bad schools.

Also, there are a lot of good private schools too.

Would it make more financial sense to find a good private school?

Also, you could try to find a good job in Texas and just move there. I think paying for housing in two locations and flying back and forth every week would get old fast.

Currently i am traveling from SFO and airfare, hotel etc is payed by company. I wanted opinion whether to move to Florida or Texas. I was thinking Dallas, Texas coz it being central place and i can travel either coast with 2 to 3 hrs flight, just in case of plan to change jobs + the schools are good in DFW areas when compare to schools in Tampa or Sarasota.

There are many very good schools in FL. You need to find the great school, not district. You can find a bunch of the top HS in the nation in FL.

Dallas is a great city and aside from beaches, has more to offer than the Tampa Bay area.
