Aereo is coming to Tampa this year. Do you think it's a good deal for people looking to cut expenses by getting rid of cable or is Netflix, Hulu Plus, or something else the way to go?

Can you explain further what this is?

I use Birghthouse for my Internet. In doing so I get all the local channels for free. Not sure if it is supposed to be this way... but it is. So my only bill is internet. I use Netflix, Hulu, Amazon and have an program called PlayOn that my Roku's are connected to.

If I want to watch the news or the game, I watch the local channels that are provided to me. Everything else lets me watch anything else I could possibly want. Netflix is $8 and I believe Hulu is right around $10. I would have Amazon Prime regardless, but that $79 a year and PlayOn is free. So for $18 a month plus cable internet which I would have had already..... it's kinda hard to beat.

Would like to know more about this service though.

Edit: Nevermind, just saw on their site. Mainly local channels. Nope.... not interested.

I don't get it. I can put an antenna on my house and get more channels than that.

If they offered SunSports HD, I'd pay $40 a month just for that channel. It's the only channel that I watch that is unavailable through other means and I currently pay almost twice that.

Thanks for your input. My Verizon contract is up this summer and I'm looking for less expensive alternatives to the Triple Play, internet/cable/phone, we have now. I'm not a techie, so I have a very poor idea of what the alternatives are, but I'm trying to learn.
