You can get a stand alone modem from brighthouse and use your own router. I dont recomend buying the 20 dollar special at walmart though or you will be quite let down. You can also bridge the modem you have if you want which disables the router functions and you can connect your own router to it.

Message me if you need any more assistance.

Also, just an FYI, the speedtest to go off of is Bright House Networks Speed Test. The other tests are off net tests and your going to be limited by the server on the other end (which is why your speeds varied so much).

When I saw that others were commenting on BH, I realized I should call them again for our service gets interrupted a lot.
They came today and changed the box to a newer one. Let's see if this works better now.

Keep us informed of what happens Annie.

That is one concern I have. Is it the equipment or is it the service?

We have had alot of equipment issues...returned at least 4 dvr boxes in the last 12 months or so...now the latest problem is when you change the channels the #'s don't corespond to what is on the tv or it skips up a channel or two...unpluged everything and let it reset...which worked all the boxes except one...so we called and BH rep did something on their end (voodoo) and now it works! But it's a pain in the butt

I only have BH for phone and internet, as I went with DirecTV for the TV side of things.

My internet kept dropping out the first week or so, I reached out to their support. They updated the firmware in the all-in-one modem/router/phone device. That fixed the internet issues. But then we started having phone issues.

A tech came out and said the all-in-one devices were troublesome, so he replaced it with two devices - one for the phone service, and another modem/router combo. I have no complaints since. It's been perfect.
