This is good news for those like my wife who are cranky and irritable without a Wawa coffee fix or for others who would simply enjoy a taste of home:

Wawa opens first Tampa Bay area store in Pinellas Park - Tampa Bay Times

Wawa to open first of 5 Tampa area stores at 30th St. and Fowler | TBO.com

Looks like the locations are in or around bad areas! I haven't seen one up in PGH so I have no idea what's special about them! and we like to make our own coffee!

seems like a lot of hype for a gas station

I agree...I never buy anything in a gas station because they are highly overpriced! I get gas at Sams...its cheaper...LOL

The circle K here has one price for those driving east than for those driving west...RIP OFF. I avoid them all.

Well, I am not a big fan of Wawa because I normally do my own cooking and coffee-making, but Wawa does things very differently than other gas stations.

Wawa is like Publix, while all the other gas stations are Winn Dixie.

At Wawa you will find:

Gourmet soups, salads and hot meals made to order with quality ingredients (you place your order at a touchscreen kiosk)
Excellent coffee in like 20 varieties
Gourmet hoagies that come in four different sizes (place your order at kiosk)
Gas is always cheapest at Wawa
Machines that allow you to make a slurpee, smoothie, or milkshake (makes a fresh shake with REAL ice cream)
Wawa employess are like Publix employees; when was the last time you were treated Publix-style at a gas station?

They set a very high standard for convenience store food/beverage and service.

That's a pretty good description to give the folks down here an idea of what they are all about. One thing that they are apparently doing that is new is baking their own bread in the store. I never saw that up north.

One of the things I missed most about moving to FL 15 years ago was WAWA!! I am so glad to see them FINALLY make the move to FL! Say goodbye to 7Eleven's, Marathon's, & the like. They will be like Walgreens... on almost every corner LOL... well maybe not but you will see them start popping up everywhere
