What are the best areas/suburbs to live in around Tampa Bay, with access to downtown.

2 kids.

Price range for a house is $500-800k

TIA

I'll let others fill you in, I haven't lived in the Bay Area in a decade. I just know that Fishhawk is a great community because I grew up near there and still have friends in the area.

The schools out there are great too!

You should look into Safety Harbor. We also have 2 kids, and we love it here! It's right on the bay, has a great quaint little downtown, a strong sense of community, and is extremely kid and family friendly. It's also well-educated and upscale without being too pretentious.

This is the most desirable part of the Bay area and it's close to downtown: Moderator cut: link removed, linking to competitor sites is not allowed Many of these neighborhoods also have beautiful architecture and landscaping, in particular Palma Ceia, Swann Estates, and Hyde Park.

Westchase, Wellington Manor (off Neuberger Road), The Sanctuary (Off Livingston Rd), Seven Oaks (Wesley Chapel), Tampa Palms (New Tampa - 33647 zip code), Arthur Rutenburg Homes, to name a few.

I vote Westchase. Love that area, but it was out of my budget. Not yours though!

Safety Harbor is getting crowded...and its not easy access to Tampa's downtown. You have 1 bridge to get over, and chances are you'll be stuck in traffic on it most of the time. Just not worth it for those who work in downtown Tampa.

Try Westchase, South Tampa, Westshore Yacht Club...Davis Islands, Culbreath Isles...

The area we like most of all is the 34685 area of Palm Harbor, which is along East Lake Road/McMullen Booth/611. This area is phenomenal. It is about 30-40 minutes to downtown, so I am not sure if that is in your range or if you want something closer in. Most of the premier places to live are not near the actual downtown. It's more a matter of what is the range you are comfortable with and what are you looking for in your living situation.
