Upscale is a subjective term. You need to give a better description of what you are looking for.

Behind the south gates on Harbour Island if you want the most upscale neighborhood in terms of $/sq ft.

Bayshore can be high-end, but it's not gated. If you want exclusivity with your house, you are probably going to be looking well out of the city in Cheval or some other ultra-high-end communities.

Agree - at least from what the media tells us.

I would agree with avila being up on top.. I wouldnt say there are a whole lot of families there though, mostly older people with a LOT of money.

Default Second that

I'd second the Eastlake Woodlands/Lansbook area. Lots of families, a very safe area, and great location in my opinion. Not to mention, the home values are relatively diverse ranging from the mid 300's (now, after the decline, and artificially low IMO) to well into the millions, so it fits a wide range of budgets.

Schools are good, school sports are strong, rec centers in both neighborhoods, nice golf courses in both neighborhoods, 30 minutes to TIA, minutes from beaches, Publix's at the entrance to both, decent restaurants at entrance to both, Target and Wallyworld are both minutes away, and if you live in Lansbrook you have a private boat ramp for the lake...I can keep going if you'd like?

Avila is definitely top of the food chain as far as concentrated wealth, but not sure it's the most family friendly environment. I've never been all that crazy about that side of town either.
