Where do people look for rentals in South Tampa?
Does anyone know the best way to find tenants? I've tried several different things, such as Craigslist and posting a 'For Rent' sign, but I'm wondering where renters go to find places to live.
Do they go to certain rental websites and if so, which ones? Do renters use the websites that match them to landlords and vice versa? I would think that renters would prefer to find properties on their own and not enter criteria where the tenants contact them.
Also, I don't know much about property management companies, but if that works I would consider doing it. Any input on that topic would be helpful too!!!
Thanks!

I would say craigslist or the Creative Loafing or Flyer magazine which is put out every week or month? Newspapers and you could also post flyers in laudrymats, coffeeshops and grocery stores. There is also the campus of Univ. of Tampa if you wanted a "responsible" college or graduate student.

You can also post your rental here on City-Data in the classified section. I would recommend you not put in a phone # or your email address, just let people send you a direct message if they are interested.

South Tampa Rentals
There are a few websites out there. Just search Google or another search engine for "South Tampa Rentals".

property management companies
can be a convenience. They will screen prospective tenants and when something needs fixing they will be the one to get the calls at 2 AM
tehy will also collect yoru rent and make any disbursements. it all depends on what you are willing to do s a landlord.

A property management company might be good if you don't want the hassle of dealing with screening applicants and dealing with tenants and maintenance requests, etc. But just to lease the place... save your money. Not all Realtors are bad, but what you'll likely end up with (no offense to those Realtors out there) is some cheesy flyer with cliche buzz-words and a listing on the Multiple Listing Service where the only people who will see it is other Realtors, and frankly, rental shoppers don't typically use Realtors. Although it may be convenient if you don't want to show the place to every shopper who sees your ad, the Realtor can do that for you, but they won't generate much traffic. You'll pay about $500 for very little work, you can do it yourself.
The sites already mentioned are all good places, I'm a renter myself. You may want to re-evaluate the price to be more competitive, there's a lot on the market right now.
