ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.: St. Pete Pride parade expected to draw 150,000 - Florida Wires - MiamiHerald.com

Might be a good day to avoid ST Pete due to traffic and road blocks. No Rays game for me today....

I'm not going, but my boyfriend is. I don't like crowds and mass inebriation (so I don't go to many Florida events). There is a lot to celebrate in our community after the historic ruling, so I bet it will be a big one this year.

I've been, and its WAY tamer than Gasparilla (straight pride...lol). I still prefer more low key things to do.

As for Pinellas being "accepting", I will tell you that the perspective of how "accepting" it is, is different from the perspective of a member of the GLBT community. It's better than most places around Tampa Bay, but no where near close to South Florida. It's galaxies away from much of the West coast and North East.

Yes, there is a GREAT reason for celebration. More work to be done, but it is truly celebration time. I hope the weather works out, but that part does not look good for a parade.

They'll probably just bust out into a rendition of "Don't Rain On My Parade"!*
