The water at clearwater beach looks like mud most of the time. Maybe when the indians were there 200 years ago, it looked clear.
Wave action stirring up the sand- you are close to a major confined pass there. I go to St. Pete Beach, DeSoto or Pass-A-Grille. Water is generally clear, but if it's windy, especially a west wind or afternoon seabreeze it stirs up the sand all along the barrier islands, because our side of the Gulf is so shallow.

The water is clean- i.e. free from contaminants.

Florida has so many great things to offer in my opinion from the weather, the beaches, and other great things to do right at your fingertips. I'm sure I'll like it even more the next year and the next year.

what do u dislike about the ppl you have met?

Maybe St Petersburg ought to be renamed "Fossil City"

I'm met more self centered people here. Dating in Tampa is the worst also. The ratio of men to women is like 90 to 1. Guys tend to lean towards the barbie dolls. So I guess what I'm trying to say is self-centered men and bitchy women. Obviously not everyone but definitely more than usual.

I had no idea Florida had changed so much. It's beautiful here with lots of fun things to do, but the day-to-day traffic, congestion, downright rude people, expensive homes and the outrageous tax/insurance situation is just too much. I guess you could say it's a love/hate relationship, haha... I've lived all over the US and this is the worst I've seen. I've reached the age (42) where I'm getting tired of moving and traveling around, and am ready to settle down and relax a bit. I had hoped it would be here, but I'm leaving as soon as my lease is up in Dec. It's so disappointing.

Also, what's up with the wages here anyway?? I'm an RN and made more money per hour two years ago in South Dakota than what I make here now?! Plus I have twice the patient load (so unsafe!) than what I've had anywhere. I just don't get it. We're on our way to Huntsville, AL, soon. The pay isn't bad and the housing cost is literally half what we're paying here. I hope it works out.
Hi Zen and welcome to the forum. You're from my state. Sorry you don't like it there. At one time we had considered moving there, but there are just too many negatives. Of course the beaches are nice and the weather is warm, but there are just too many other things that aren't appealing.

I hope you like your new location.

Why?? The median age is 36, according to the latest figures from the Chamber of Commerce. That's down over 20 years from the late 70's.

Have you been to St. Pete lately?? I have to say though, the people get older the farther north you...i.e. Zephyrhills area is nothing but people 60+.
Whatever statistic you are reading where the median age is 36 in St. Pete is most likely permanent residents who took part in the census, whereas half the people in the Tampa area are not year round residents (i.e. the "older" people) and they would not be counted towards the median age of residents.

I believe I read that you have lived in many other states including Europe? Were you that nasty to those people too??? That is probably why you left there and moved here. We see people with your disposition coming into Florida all the time, your nasty no matter where you relocate to! You should fit in well with all the other rude people who have migrated here because they were run out of the other 49 states, and Europe too!!!
