Has anyone been able to successfully grow zoysia grass from seeds? how long did it take?

Am looking to patch up certain areas in the lawn with seeds than buying expensive plugs.

I looked at couple of places(home depot, lowes) and they do sell seeds but with mulch - am looking for seed only. where is a good location to buy in Tampa?

It's not...2-3 years ago I replaced the front lawn with Zoysia sod and it's still healthy..However, in the backyard, I have patches and wondering if seed would be a better option economically than ordering pallets of sod.

Zoysia is my favorite type of grass. Seed is expensive and very very slow to get established and fill in. I would prefer to just use sod.

The great thing about living in this area is the summers are not blistering hot and there is plenty of rain, yet mild enough winters which that combination really does wonders for warm season grasses. This is the first place we have ever lived where the grass looks absolutely fabulous in the summer.

Finally bought some seeds online from Patten Seed Company

Am told you have to buy seeds that were tested for germination in the last 6 months or so..

Will come back in few months and post my experience growing grass from seeds!!!
