This is bad news. I looked forward to the Grand Prix every year. Hope they find a new sponsor.

Ha ha! No more pier and no more race downtown. But it's OK though, all they have to do is put up more red light cameras and parking meters downtown. Eventually that will be the only revenue producing thing in St. Pete.

I'm wondering why Honda pulled out. It seems like they would've given them more notice.

We've lost a Champions Tour PGA event in March. Hope we don't lose the Grand Prix race. I haven't attended it, yet, but it is on my "to do" list. Not really interested in racing, but the race has got to be a benefit to the local economy w/ tourism.

Just for the record,it's not a Grand Prix.
The cars involved are not Formula One, which is where the term Grand Prix originated.

So the article is wrong? I don't follow that type of racing so I don't know.

The term originated with the Grand Prix de Paris horse race long before F1. Grand Prix is used to describe a lot of different races whether it's F1, carts, Indy, horse races, etc. The St. Pete Grand Prix is an Indy Series race.

Nice! I heard about this and was looking forward to going. I have seen one Grand Prix in Nova Scotia and thought it was a lot of fun.
