Thank you, I would have never considered this area.

Are drives from this area (Apollo beach, Brandon) going to be a traffic nightmare as well? They map out to roughly 30 minutes but so did Town N Country to Thonotosassa so I am a little confused to why this is a better drive. I believe you I just want to be informed. I am looking for a 1 bedroom no real square footage requirements just something safe and clean. Thanks

It's a better drive because, if you live in a spot with easy access to 1-75, it's a straight shot up to the exit for Thonotosassa. It's way more direct. 301, on the other hand, can be frustrating depending on where you are. If you're going to travel 301, be sure to stay north of Bloomingdale intersection.

It all depends. Commutes are very personal to the individual. I lived 10 minutes from teh office and didnt care for it, I was too close. I didnt lose the office junk before I got home and on the weekends I passed my office often, I dont want to see it. I lived 40 minutes all highway once from my office and loved it, when I got home I felt like I lost any pressures from work and even more like it because I didnt live near work. I like that separation.

Best bet for commutes is to come and try to drive a few, I did it, during rush hour and came to my own conclusion.

There are people on this forum that cant drive 5 minutes without throwing a hissy fit, dont listen to any extreme viewpoints, the rush hour traffic in Tampa is short and there are certain clog points.

Its reverse commuting most people from AP or brandon are goign to go west in the morning and east in the afternoon, the i4/i275 junction is just badly designed, it clogs up with any volume its better to just avoid it, from TNC you are cutting across tampa, which leaves you with i-275 and the crosstown (which has a toll and doesnt cut all the way through), If you want apartment living I would suggest Brandon because again the reverse commute, you can even look into New Tampa/wesley chapel depending where in Thonotassa you are because there are some 2 lane county roads that you could possibly take from there. If you are looking for an affordable apartment that is safe and close to suburban style shopping you can a lot worse than Brandon especially if your commute is reversed.

What is the BIGGEST complaint of Tampabay? -- traffic ! so its not just a few- I loved living in Clearwater - but the commute to Tampa got harder and longer and seem liked one day I would not make it home with the crazy drivers. I used to love going over the Causeway and seeying the water, birds etc. but the traffic picked up considerably after the whole OIL spill thing was over, and the construction began. I drove to Orlando the otehr day n went hilsborough all the way to 1-75 it was not bad at 9 am on a Friday,,, once I got past Dale Mabry, from Oldsmar. There are no highways connecting from Palm Harbour to say USF... you ride way north or cut up to get there.
