Were looking for a hotel that will be having their own event, so we don't have to leave the hotel. Any suggestions?

Not particularly a fan of the place, but I am sure the Hard Rock will have something.

My first choice would be the Vinoy in St. Petersburg with a close second by the Marriott Channelside in Tampa. Both are close enough to enjoy the downtown fireworks and are within walking distance to other venues if you should want to go out. Gulf-side hotels such as Tradewinds, Don CeSar, Shepherds, etc. will have special events planned, too.

I vote for the stretch between Undertow beach bar and Beachcomber on SPB. We've had a great time down there a couple years in a row. Pick a hotel within that stretch and I'm sure you'll have fun.

There are a few hotels in downtown, and a couple night clubs in downtown/Harbour Island either across the street or very close to them. I believe the Tampa Convention Center has a New Years party also... as they did one last year. The only place that will have a New Years party in Tampa ON SITE will be Hard Rock. Although the club in there is closed right now, I believe they still open for special events. They just had a giant Halloween party in there.

It's also possible there might be a New Years party at the new Epicurean Hotel in South Tampa, but it's still under construction. So far, it's due to open Dec 18.

I'm not sure about St. Pete events.

Undertow bar is awesome. I really like that place mucho! Buy a bucket of beer. Drink a couple, walk a few yards and dip in the Gulf waters...return and rinse off. Drink remaining beers...maybe play a game of pool or volleyball outside while admiring the Gulf water view. Buy another bucket of beer. Flirt with bartenders in Bikini's.

Rinse and repeat

I was going to say the same thing.

But I would probably look around DT to see if you can be close to where the fireworks will take place (which is in Channelside I believe).
