Yes. People have come here for more and for less money, for a variety of reasons. It's not always about money. I dare say for most truly happy people, it is never about money as the first priority.

I came here making the same pay that I did in Ohio, but I would have taken less pay to get out of that hellhole and live in paradise. What good is more money if you're miserable?

I agree 100% - especially with the part in bold.

If I remember correctly you said your family members have doubled or tripled they income when they moved here. Are you guessing about other people? Certainly, you didn't see personally people who moved here with slashed salaries, do you? Just asking.

Well first off, I never said we doubled or tripled our salaries. I don't know why some people feel the need to change what was stated.

I know people who have decided to drop out of the rat race, chasing the almighty dollar game, from up north and moved down here to take less hectic jobs, hence less pay, to enjoy life. Some people spend all their lives trying to get ahead and some of them wake up one day and ask, where exactly is ahead anyhow and then they make a life change. I can think of far worse places to move to when trying to get out of the rat race and start enjoying life.

I personally took a pay cut. To zero. Started over from scratch.

Why? To improve our quality of life
