Do you feel sorry for these guys? I don't. They are professionals and their job is to play baseball and play it well.

I have lived on the "oh, we are injured" excuse for too long...but I am starting to realize that is just a delusional excuse that can't even cover this poor of play.

Our starting lineup tonight is:

Jennings
Kiermaier
Longo
Loney
Zobrist
DeJesus
Joyce
Escobar
Hanigan

That is arguably a better lineup than we were playing with late last season. I know our reserves are lighter (no Kelly Johnson, no Sam Fuld, etc) but we shouldn't be the worst team in baseball. That isn't the worst roster in baseball...but they are playing like it.
Sad. Very very sad. We deleted the series recordings.

this thread has been pretty quiet - season over? I'm afraid so.....guess we can be the spoilers, though - Price jerseys are 30% off for season ticket holders......wonder if it's the Rays' version of fire sale.

I think I'll get interested again come all-star break. I've always enjoyed the pre-game stuff (the celebrity softball game on Sunday, HR derby Mon. night) too. And I have a few games to look forward to to help get the interest going again - the Triple A Pawsox vs. Rays game, just found out I have BoSox tickets behind homeplate (from Bossman) for July, and then I have the Sox-Rays game in Sept.. If that doesn't do it, I don't know what will.

Im a Cincinnati Reds fan primarily, but the 99 pct of the time they aren't playing one another, I support the Rays, and go to games whenever I can (usually 1-2 per homestand). Pretty much everything that could go wrong for this team, has gone wrong. How they handle things at the trade deadline could signal whether this ends up being a long term rebuilding project, or if they can reload on the fly, and get ready for next year. I also worry what this will do to the already bad attendance.

I've wasted several tickets so far, practically have given them away for pennies on Stubhub. I've lost interest, but I think I would have lost interest even if they were near the top. Glad to hear you support the team as you do.

The team has actually been playing pretty well lately, especially offensively.

That has led to a record of 12-7 in the past 19 games...quite a contracts to a record of 1-14 in the 15 games before that.

Kiermaier has breathed life into this team. He's hit .320 so far and has 7 homers in only 36 games...that is tied for 2nd on the team behind Longoria's 10, who has played almost 90 games this year and has 3x as many ABs.

Joyce is also looking good lately.

I don't think there is a snowball's chance in hell of making the playoffs this year, but they could at least finish with a respectable record.

Laying it on the Tigers 7-0 today....making my day. Nice win yesterday.....traveling up north but still able to see a lot of Rays' games nationally (ESPN coverage). Two out of three from the Orioles, sweeping the Yankees, now 2 or 3 so far (hopefully) from the Tigers.......but still 10 under .500.
