It is higher in rents then I would hope. And since rents only go up, I better start at a lower price point.

I'd love to find a studio or 1 bedroom under 500.

Now I see in North Clearwater there are apartments at that price point. Are those safe areas? I wouldn't mind sleeping in Clearwater but "living" in Dunedin. I love that Hale community center for over 50, it totally suits me. I am disabled with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome so very limited. I finally want to spend my energies on people and easy activites, and build community.

And I'm not totally adverse to renting a room, if the situation was another woman my age (50) or older who would like to rent out a room.

I am able to "try out" Dunedin,I saw lots of rooms to rent at the start of snowbird season, now not so many. When do the snowbirds leave? That would be the best time I suppose to rent a room for 3-6 months after they vacate.

I also posted in general FL forum, to see if anyone has any other city that would be like Dunedin for me but maybe more affordable. I've pretty much looked for the way Dunedin is set up as a city in many cities around the US and I haven't found anything. But maybe there is somewhere else in FL that is cheaper.

But Dunedin is so perfect for me, but to do it financially over time is my big concern...

Dunedin is very nice. Visited there. Lots to do. Not sure how expensive. If you want not too expensive try New Port Richey but its not as nice as Dunedin in my opinion.

I learned through these forums that North Clearwater is safer than South Clearwater. They described the South area to be "sketchy." I am also thinking of relocating to Dunedin from Southern New Mexico, so tired of the desert. You can find cheaper rent here in Las Cruces, New Mexico, near Picacho Street, Van Patten Street, 1,2,3,4,5th Streets. This is the more "shady" part of town. You get what you pay for. Generally speaking it is more affordable here, housing taxes...because there is no ocean, can't go to Mexico anymore which took the "fun" out of this area. Now there is nothing to do here, beyond boring. It is a retirement area because of the plentiful sunshine, mild winters, and dry climate.
