How about you be realistic and not give people reckless advice.

BTW, thanks for the rep points.

You told someone (who seems to have no business acumen) inquiring about starting a business that all they need to do is give us what we want and all will be well. You don't think this is reckless advise? Then you call me a negative Nancy and make other snide remarks when I call you out on it. Well, I say WOW!! It's pretty easy to give others advice when it's not your money at stake.

Let me give you an example: IF someone comes here from anywhere and wants to be a plumber, and open a plumbing business, they won't be working on the "middle class" homes, cause those are NEW(ER) and don't have plumbing problems....they'll be working on OLDER homes, or apartments that may have low income, or older citizens on medicare living in them. Same goes for the AC folks...newer homes have newer AC units unlikely to break enough to keep someone in business. (Unless that AC company breaks it, just to have to keep coming back=fraud). How often do you think an AC breaks on a mansion?

Do you have, or ever had a business? how many millions have you made in Tampa?

There is a major difference between being positive for no apparent reason, and telling someone to ignore someone for telling them a potential FACTOR they should be aware off! People don't hop on Unicorns and open businesses around Tampa! If they did, we'd have more NON chains, than chains all over.

Some good advice here. Some b.s. too. The responders don't even know the product or the service being offered by this may be business.

Research all areas of the rules and regulations, research businesses offering the same or like services or products. Be realistic. Be ready to loose the investment or hopefully enjoy the profits.

First off, There are plenty of middle class homes in the Tampa bay area with work needed in them. My lord, I made a very good living on them for over twenty years. I have been in business in the area since 1980. I just recently started a new business in 2007. Not the best economy at the time, but I did not want to work for anyone. I currently have six employees and my lowest paid worker is at 18.00hr. Of course starting a business is not easy. In fact a lot of successful business owners have failed once or twice before doing it right. I prefer to encourage people to move forward then to put road blocks in front of them. The hardest part of starting a business is getting the courage to take the leap. In this forum we are not going to write a "How To Book". The Tampa Area is a great area to start a business, If you want it go for it. There will be lots of people telling you not to do it. You will fail. You might, you may not who's to say. One thing I do know is no one became successful by not trying. Hard work, long hours yes.
Some of the best things in life require work. Take it from someone who just celebrated their "30" wedding anniversary.
