Much as youd like to see no northerners in Florida ya gotta wonder just how much of the Florida population originated at some point from up north and how much those northerners contribute to the Florida economy.

As much as I am not a fan the stereotypical North Easterner... they have as much right to move down here as anyone. Heck, of course I prefer Mid-Westerner's... they tend to be more polite. Either way, I do know this. The more people that move down here, the more tax revenue the state gets, the stronger the economy becomes and the demand for housing increases.

Considering I am on a 3 - 5 year plan that involves selling my house.... this is good news.

Come on down ya'll!

Agree with what you say, Kash - but you've got to say that things get a little nicer about April when the mass exodus of snowbirders start and the store lines, roadways, etc etc all thin out and become less congested.

Ask any Northerner who has ever been to Florida in the SUMMER with temps and heat indexes in the 90's for months on end, if they want to pack up and move to Florida, and how many would say yes? That is why there are SNOWBIRDS. They don't want to be here from May through October when it gets brutal in the opposite direction temp wise.

I was on line in Publix once when it was in the 50s here. An obvious Snowbird was complaining about the cold weather. An old man said to her, "Lady, live here YEAR ROUND when it is in the 90s and humid as hell in the Summers, and you will be very happy to have these nice cool days." Absolutely! Excuse me, but the temp right now is in the low 50s and I am going out to ENJOY this lovely weather. No, I don't need to wear a parka, hat, gloves, and boots either. Have a NICE day. I will.

Another chilly day in Carrollwood... 31 degrees this morning. The predicted high for today is 46 degrees. Lots of manatees have congregated into the warm water beside the TECO plant in Apollo Beach.

I just walked out, coffee in hand. Not too bad out there except when the wind blows......headed out to MacDill for 18 or more holes of golf. Might have the golf course to myself. Trouble is the course is right on the water and wind will be blowing.

Definitely cold even here in Sarasota, but the sun is out nice and bright and is otherwise a beautiful day. Plus it will warm up again in another day or so. I don't care what anyone says, for ME, the weather in Florida can't be beat!
