I lived in Tampa during my 20's. I moved back to NY in 1999. I have since gotten married and had children. My husband and I have been planning to move out of new your for a handful of years. Raleigh, South Florida (we have family there) and Tampa have all been on and off our radar over the years for various reasons. We think we are finally ready it make a decision to move now that all of our children are school age.

I feel a huge draw to Tampa (I still have friends there). I miss the weather, all of the activities....just the area as a whole. I've been back a few times over the years and always feel "home".

I'm wondering if anyone (not originally from there) found themselves feeling the same way and ultimately returned. I completely understand that everyone's situation is different, but I'm curious if you did return, are you happy you did?

Slightly different situation but I grew up here, we moved out west to utah for a while and made the mistake of moving back. Now were pretty stuck here since me and my wife both have good jobs with no ability to transfer.

Your reasoning for moving is different than mine was though. Tampa is a nice place as a whole, it just depends where you move to. I live in the stonebriar subdivision in lutz and really like it, There is a huge family presence and people seem to be pretty nice generally. I would prefer utah due to the weather, terrain, people and more to do as outdoor activities.

Lived here to attend USF, then entered military without the thought of ever returning - lived in various cities/regions over two plus decades, returned because Tampa/STP area has so much to offer and the climate fits well. Only thing I miss is mountainous or at least hilly geography. Florida is pretty borning in that respect. I may leave again if the state get too congested. The cost of living is hard to beat, though. I'm getting my fill of the area and may someday move out to some other area.....

I moved to Tampa when I was 23, and left when I was 31. I pretty quickly realized that Tampa really felt like *home* to me, and a few years later came back. We might wind up moving again, but for now I am pretty darn happy to be back.

We're thinking the same thing. Hendersonville, NC may be in our future. Giving it a serious look. Agree about the cost of living here, though.

I wonder why those who moved away and came back why would you go back to the same area in Florida you lived? You left for a reason and I often wonder this.

If you did not like it the first time I do not think you will the second time.

Explain.

Closest thing I have to a hill where I live is the landfill in Gibsonton/Riverview and the Phoshate/Sulphur mountain made by Mosaic over on the east side of the Bay.

Didn't move away because I didn't like the area - moved away because of life's circumstances/work.
