Of course they happen elsewhere.

it seems people are giving up, want the easiest way out and hope to take others with them. I think its more than DUI. These incidents are multiplying more recently than ever before and the alcohol and drugs have been there all along.

Thanks for posting. I know in Germany you'd hear about it happening occasionally - but thought it was something endemic to this region of roadway. I can't think of a worse way to go out if they're doing it on purpose. For me: a bottle of JD and some sleeping pills. I guess that's the chick's way to go out, but it works for me. Don't worry - not in the plans just yet, at least.

I think some may be afraid to do the pills and a brandy route. It takes time. It may not work.
Other ways actually require preparation and execution, i.e. hanging, cut wrists, jump from a building or bridge. However, going for a drive is something we do everyday. It is routine. Just miss that "WRONG WAY" sign and you're on your way to eternity.
