Stay north of central. Except for a small pocket, south St. Pete is HOOD!!!!

No worries for touristy areas in So. St. Pete.

I'd stay further north unless you're really comfortable driving through/living in some rough areas.

That's pretty much false. The southern half of South St Pete (Lakewood Estates and Pinellas Point) is fine which consists of the area south of 45th Avenue/Country Club Way (south side of Lake Maggiore downward).

I live downtown South of Central. Not "hood" at all. Sure there are bad areas, but nowhere close to the bad neighborhoods in Clearwater.

That's all fine and dandy but you said it yourself, the southern half is (I'm going with *mostly*) fine, which means if you intend on going anywhere else in the county, you still drive through some pretty rough areas.

Downtown south of central isn't south St. Pete. It's downtown St. Pete.

I will be moving into a new community right next to 275 in 3 weeks. Ping me after that and I will tell you if is was a good move. The area is good though, 10 min walk to the museums, the waterfront and to the entertainment areas around central ave.
