You would think I'd be soaking wet sweaty in those temps, but for some reason I'm not
We'll compare this thing called "heat indexes" in another month.
Overall, I find the heat more tolerable here.

Just think if you had our dewpoints like around 71 to 80 with your temps.

And that is what matters. Comfort with temperature, humidity, dew point, sun light and rainfall are personal things. They are different for every person. I am glad you are happy with your weather "overall". As far as the Tampa Bay area, it is just like any other place in terms of how people feel about the weather. Some people like it cooler and complain when it is hot. Some people like it hot and humid and complain when it is cold. Some people, like us, enjoy the changes but do not like the cold season to be really cold.....just cool. For us, Tampa Bay is pretty close to an exact match. We had been toying with the idea of moving a little further south when my wife retires, in order to avoid the handful or two of cold winter days. That has been cancelled though because of health issues and because our son is getting married and children are planned within a few years.

What always makes me curious though is why "some" people refuse to believe that a number of other people love the summers here. Like I said, people like all kinds of weather and that includes Florida summer weather. People move to tropical areas all the time, but some people refuse to believe it. I am not sure why, but I am starting to think they do it simply to cause a bit of in fighting. What other reason could it be? I despise the cold, but I don't try to convince people that everyone hates the cold. I understand some people enjoy skiing, snowmobiling, sitting by the fireplace to warm up, etc. By the same token, people who do not like hot and humid should understand others do. Some people love the tropical feel, light clothing, sipping a cold beverage by the pool, using the pool, the storms, etc. Some people love it all year long like that. We don't. We like the more moderate changes here where it is rarely cold, often great temps and dry without being too dry and then summertime weather and all the wonderful things it brings. To make it perfect here, I would only eliminate the handful or two days of very cold weather in the winter. But that is just us.

I also think beyond preference it's how one is genetically predisposed to tolerate heat...I am very light skinned blue eyed blonde...when I was expecting my daughter in July of 93 we had a heat wave in NYC that temps reached 104*...I was told by my OB to stay indoors in ac that because of my "coloring" I would not tolerate the heat very well...I have also had basal cell carcinoma removed from my face...so all this sit by the pool and enjoy is not my reality...

Yep, it is different for everyone. My parents live in MA and love gardening. My Dad gets real bad rashes from the sun or when it is hot. He has to wear pants and long sleve clothing whenever outside. He has a lot of trouble in the MA summers. This makes it difficult to get them to move down her as Mom really wants to come, but Dad is afraid.

Everyone is different. As much as so many of us like or tolerate heat and humidity well, other people prefer it cooler and drier. No one is wrong for what they like or need. However anyone who claims "other" people do not or cannot like what they say they like are certainly wrong.

You have 'dry' heat. We have a 'humid' heat. However, I found that 101 is hot as can be. I found that out on the Vegas Strip in July.

I thought it would too but I have seem to gotten used to it. As long as my nads are dry, me's a happy camper.
