We lived in Bonita Springs and are wondering about Largo. We're from midwest and have moved back here only to realize we've made a huge mistake. Anyway.

Could anybody give me some insight into Largo? We're thinking of a condo but it must welcome our Golden Retriever. What neighborhoods should we avoid? What is the overall feel of the community?

Anything you can throw my way will be appreciated! Thanks.

Is there a particular reason you're considering Largo rather than say, Dunedin, Seminole, Safety Harbor? IMO, any one of those areas would be a better bet. I would also say much of the Clearwater area directly to the north of Largo isn't really worth talking about.

I'll give my usual shout-out for Gulfport, especially for pet-friendliness. We spent a lot of time renting in Dunedin, Safety Harbor and Gulfport over the past two winters and we bought in Gulport, as it had the best vibe for us. YMMV.

See these articles re: Gulfport and decide for yourself.

Yeah, I was going to say Gulfport also (we lived there for 3 years and loved it) but I think the only condos are the 55+ on 58th St. Maybe there are more I don't know about, but I don't remember seeing any others

How about Indian Rocks Road and Walsingham? I saw some 55 plus condos wondering what that area is like?

Thanks for any info.

There are some better areas near the beach in Largo. It's really hit or miss though, you'll want to take a look for yourself. Acceptable to some isn't for others.

Never mind about Largo. It was because of a potential job transfer to that city. Now strongly reconsidering Bonita, Estero, South Fort Myers areas. Our Golden is a real issue. We were hoping for a Condo this time around, but difficult to find one that will accept him.

Why do say it was a huge mistake to move there from the Midwest? My family lives in the Midwest and we are looking to possibly move to Largo/Palm Harbor next year. Just was curious

I think you misunderstood, Scooter.

We lived (past tense) in Bonita Springs and are wondering about Largo. We're from midwest and have moved back here (to the midwest) only to realize we've made a huge mistake.
