Really hoping I can get some good feedback! We are visiting next week and are interested in the Old NE/Snell Isle area. Are these areas good for families? What do people there think of the public schools? They are so poorly rated it's making me lean toward South Tampa, but think we would enjoy St. Pete and proximity to the water more.

The 2 elementary schools assigned to the area are North Shore and Sexton. Anyone familiar with these? Or any of the charter/magnet schools? Private not an option at this point.

Thanks!!!

Sexton is "A" rated and would expect it to be as good as any other top tier public elementary school option in the area.

Check out Bay Vista Fundamental. It's very good but is lotto system to get in. The problem with Pinellas schools is it seems like when one starts to do really well, they cut the budget and shift it to a bad school, so schools tend to cycle from average to good as the money comes and goes.

Not to mention the overall school grades fluctuate in Florida from year to year seemingly as once schools become "top performing" their criteria is moved up making it more difficult to maintain "A" status consistently. The exception of course being economically advantaged areas which tend to not change so much.
