You're coming during "Snowbird" season. Many people from up North come to FL for the wonderful weather during the winter.

You'll pay a premium. I was looking for a full time place to live early this year, and kept running into furnished, pricey short term rentals. Realize those sit empty for most of the year; the owners need to pay the year round expenses during the 3-5 month rental.

Start looking with the real estate brokers, etc. as suggested above.

Closer to time, look at Craigslist. Right now CL has current rentals.. and this is a time when they'll do anything to rent, so rents are cheap.

Yes, the prices seems higher than I expected.
but, I don't need to stay near the beach. I will not be there for 'holidays', but because of events in Florida, and it's cheaper to stay in US than travel between the US and France.
and, I need a garage for my french cars because I need my french cars for the events !

if it's too expensive in Pinellas, it's perhaps more interesting in Manatee, Hillsborough county....

It's hard to find short term rental places for cheap. Normally lower prices are for long term rentals. 3 months will cost way more.

Look for rentals somewhere near Kissimmee or Davenport towards Orland. You might be able to find something over there since there are many rental properties for tourists out there
