I have a couch and a rusted out grill to get rid of (among other things). Does anyone know what the dump charges per pound (or per square foot) so i can estimate what i'm looking at? Trying to get rid of some crap before we move.
And before anyone suggests, no one wants this couch, my kid jumped too hard on it and it broke the wood structure internally - it was a cheap couch so I didnt expect much out of it.
Try putting it out on trash day, or better yet, the night before.
The trash "pickers" will take an amazing number of things one would otherwise consider trash. Worst case, you still have to haul it out to the dump.
And take a look at the County's web site. Look under the "solid waste" section and you'll see the locations and fees, if any.

We did that with the loveseat portion of that set, the love seat was in perfect condition and it took a week for someone to finally come along and take it :/
I looked on their website a few weeks ago and could not find any fee schedule. I tried calling my local place but they were of no help (some sort of language barrier).

You didn't look hard enough. I found this in about 30 seconds:
Look at page 11. Furniture is accepted at their waste facilities. If you read the beginning of the document they not only give you the locations of the sites where you can drop it off, you would also see that there is no charge for County residents who bring the proper identification (also spelled out quite clearly in the same pamphlet.)

Yes, but we do not OWN this house, which they require a copy of your taxes. We rent - they told me a lease would not work.
No need to be rude about this. I already saw that document. I called them and told them we rented. We would have to pay the regular disposal rate (which I didnt seem to find anywhere except what the "commercial rates" were, so I'm not sure if thats what we pay or what.)
I contacted the general waste services number, they referred me to local dump. The local dump is the place that gave me a bit of a language barrier.

Are you including the scale fee? $5.00 to weigh your vehicle.
That's why I was thinking it might be cheaper to have someone haul it off.
