I ( 23 year old male ) am thinking of moving to the Tampa/ St. Pete area from STL. Are there any parts of town that are considered the area where "hipsters" live/hang out?

What part of the city do the young professionals generally live at in ?

For Tampa, that would be Seminole Heights. Tampa Heights as well, but that area is a not quite as advanced in terms of gentrification. Post-frat/sorority young professional types tend to live in South Tampa (Westshore, Hyde Park, Soho) and Channelside.

The downtown St. Pete area is more of a hipster mecca than anywhere in Tampa though.

If you are looking for areas with artisanal pickle shops and barbers that specialize in handlebar moustaches, we're not quite there yet.

It also depends on your socioeconomic status - Seminole Heights and Tampa Heights are interesting "up and coming" neighborhoods, along with Ybor City, but if you have a decent job and/or money in the bank you are probably looking at South Tampa or Downtown/Grand Central St Pete.

In Tampa the hipster areas are definitely Ybor City, and The Heights (Seminole Heights, Tampa Heights.

By far St. Petersburg has more of an artsy vibe, reminds me a little bit of Echo Park/DTLA especially in DTSP and over in (Kenwood, Grant Central, and Uptown)

Definitely downtown St. Pete. FAR MORE than ANYWHERE in Tampa!

Completely agree with all of the above ^^^. I have always said that downtown St. Pete reminds me a little of parts of LA from decades past (in a good way)

Seminole Heights, but I'd replace Ybor with Downtown Tampa. Check out The Hub and the area surrounding it.

He said "hipster", not "homeless".
