One good place to look is in the cul-de-sac areas of neighborhoods. The way the houses are positioned there can provide much more space. Then of course beyond the gates, which puts it out of the OP's range and also of many others.

Thanks for the responses. I do not mind ponds exactly, but my biggest fears about nearby water are snakes and my very adventurous children drowning or getting bitten by a gator. (i know, i know)
We will definitely check out Palm Harbor. We've looked at the houses for sale there and looks right up our alley!

You are not being neurotic...drownings,snakes and gators are all worthy of having a healthy respect for here in Florida...with adventurous kids even homes with pools, while not ruled out have to weigh the cost/benefit for your family...Now having been a negative nellie...we relocated back in 1997 with two young kids and none of what I mentioned above ever happened to them... Good luck...Palm Harbor is a fantastic choice!
