Here's my question to you: if we're not all twins, then why should we all have the same mailbox? Does the mail get an allergic reaction if it's not being put into an ugly black box? "What does the mail say?"

At one time, St. Pete had 340 miles of brick streets. About 95 miles of city streets and alleys are still bricks. Historically, the areas with brick streets have had less road flooding because of the porous nature of bricks.

Hey, thanks for the info. That's interesting about the flooding too, I didn't even think of that. Aesthetically speaking, though, it really gives the neighborhoods a nice feel.

Love the cobblestones - reminds me of driving in European cities.......I think Ybor has some stretches of cobblestone, but I could be wrong (might be thinking of NOLA).

Thanks for posting the mailbox pictures. They are really creative and so representative of Gulfport. I associate such mailboxes with artsy areas of Florida. They remind me of what we call "old Florida," the Florida that preceded master planned communities, gated communities, and age restricted communities.

yes, this would be true, lol. I was up in Portland, ME and going out to some bar/night club on a side street that had cobblestone. I can't remember what I was wearing but the other girl wore stillettos. She looked like one of those circus people on stilts trying to maneuver through. Actually, change that to a tightrope walker.

Sunnydee, if that is what "old Florida" is, then I like it!

LOL!

Must be old Florida, as I have seen and felt it in many places here.
