Hello all,

I would first like to say happy 4th from Afghanistan. I am a 23 year old single white male and I will be 25 when I leave the Army for my relocation to Tampa. I am originally from Omaha, Nebraska but currently reside in Tennessee. I was wondering what the current job outlook is in reference to business management/ construction management field. I am currently in school and deciding to either get my degree in business management or construction management, I will have my associate's by the time I make the move and would really like to work in the construction field in which I have experience prior to the Military. I would be residing by myself with the possibility of one of my friends moving with me. I will be using my G.I. Bill to pay for my housing and to finish up the rest of my schooling I will also be afforded around 1,500 a month for housing provided by the bill although, I would like to have money left over to pay for utilities and such I would like to around people in my age group and would also prefer a house rather than an apartment. Schooling will be my main focus but, I would like to also have some other source of income. I am essentially debt free other than a car note that will soon be paid off. I enjoy being active in wither it be swimming, working out, driving my car and also my bike I also enjoy going out to bars and such. I have been researching Tampa a lot recently and it seems to be my kind of city. My questions about the city are pretty much basic as to most of the other discussion forums on here they way that they differ is that I am in the Army currently and would like to understand other peoples onions on job outlook, housing, entertainment. What I am really concerned about is my ability to find a job in Tampa while going to school also having a successful transition from the military to the civilian sector. I am choosing to leave the military for a less stressful enjoyable life that I can enjoy without the concern of when my next deployment is while enjoying a career. I plan to take a trip to Tampa around November of this year after my deployment to in sense prospect the area. Thank you to all that reply and have a happy 4th and drink one for me

the transition is pretty easy i imagine as there are a lot of military people here thanks to Macdill which houses Centcom (not southern command), socom as well as the air wing and everything else. A lot of companies go out of their way to hire ex military including mine (brighthouse) who seems to hire quite a large amount of prior military.

Tim,

Thank you for the reply, I realize that there is somewhat of a military presence around Tampa I m curious as to how everyone looks to veterans for employment. I do plan on making my trip to Tampa around November of this year, im curious as to what I should be looking into and where to go to help make my assessment worth while. It does seem that Tampa is somewhat of a military friendly city though thank you for the reply.
