I am finally in a position to divert some time to a sport that has always intrigued me. I love predatory birds and while I am not ready to have my own, I definitely would not mind learning the ropes. Anyone here a member of a falconry club looking for an apprentice?

I've never seriously considered falconry though what I've seen on TV looks way cool. On the other hand, I have mixed emotions about keeping wild animals. I've a love/hate relationship even with zoos. But I certainly do get the appeal and I love all birds including birds of prey. I've a got a family of red shouldered hawks here, beautiful but deadly, so I've had very close encounters which I love. Here are two of this year's youngun's at the bird bath in my garden just the other week (already posted in wildlife thread)....
