The city of Tampa has some beaches, BUT they are Bay beaches, and not nearly as nice as the Gulf Beaches which are about 20 miles to the west of Tampa.
In the
Tampa area I prefer Pass-A-Grille Beach(look up info at
www.floridasbeach.com and choose Pass-a-Grille - about 35 minutes from downtown Tampa), and also exploring Fort DeSoto Park's north beach nearby to Pass-a-Grille....a lil south of
Tampa, about 45 minutes, is Anna Maria Island.(

January is not as crowded as February through Easter.
