I used to live and work there, but had to move back to NYC for family reasons. How, for the better, or worse has St. Pete changed since I been away. Am thinking of returning when I retire. Naturally, I will see for myself, but wanted some input. Thanks much.

Down town by the pier much much nicer. It will get even better once they figure out what to do with the demoed pier. The rest is either the same or worse. If I wasn't looking in that down town area I would look else where. Some where more nearer to the beaches in the area. I grew up on Indian Rocks beach and still like that whole long strip of beach and the area. It is just a lot more busy today than when I was a kid.

You won't recognize downtown St Pete. Its 15 yrs since we came here and it used to be so quiet downtown with not much happening at all
now its a happening waterfront city with all the culture/dining/entertainment thing going on.
Property in old North East very pricey and waterfront condos in the high 100,000s up to seven figures.
The beaches have not changed so much but a lot more building (condos) there than before. Clearwater beach a major improvement but the traffic can be a pain at certain times due to numbers of visitors.
Treasure Island down to St Pete beach could use similar updating.
Indian Rocks is a little livelier and Indian Shores/redingtons other than some major building, not much changed.
As ou know much of Pinellas was pretty built up so not much changed there, other than some new malls and lots of strip malls.

No, They are still just talking about what the people would like for a new plan. It will be years before anything will get built if ever. The last pier they did took 6years for the same mistake they did this time around. Closing it before they had a real approved plan on what to build. Years ago it was a lot easier building on the water not so any more. If they don't watch out it may never get built.

Why isn't it on the ballot or something every year? Seems no bigger than some resort and those only take a year to go up.
