Hello all,

I know I posted about this a while ago - but I was wondering if people's opinions changed. Our home is on the market in NY, and we are commuting down to FL to be closer to family and friends, and of course the nicer weather. We're fortunate enough to be keeping our current salary after we move. We have a 4 year old, and a 2 year old. I am 38, and my wife is 25. With that said, we're looking for a nice family oriented town and community for our family. Hospitals, shopping, low crime (who ISN'T looking for low crime I guess lol), and ESPECIALLY good schools are a must. We like taking the kids to the park, sitting at the beach, going to amusement parks, shopping - nothing out of the ordinary really. We aren't bar people. I'm not set on these areas, so please.. if there are nicer areas, please suggest them.

With that all said, our max budget is $300k. We're looking at Trinity, Wesley Chapel, and Land O' Lakes. Where can we get the most for our budget? Are schools good in all those towns? Are there any nice towns that I am missing that can be suggested? Any recommendations or advice would REALLY be appreciated, as I am sure there are pros and cons to each of the areas. Trinity was my top choice due to location to beaches and whatnot, but being so close to NPR worries me a bit. I'm not a huge fan of the cookie cutter type homes, and I'd like at LEAST a quarter acre lot, but I'd deal if I had to.

Thank you all so much in advance.

Why are you looking at those particular places? Do you need to be close to those areas for work?

I don't think there is anything really wrong with the areas you mentioned, but I'm not sure about the schools there. Perhaps someone can fill you in on what the current state of southeastern Pasco schools are like.

We know some people there, and we like the location (close to the beaches, Tampa, etc)

I travel with my job, and my wife works at home - so no, we wouldn't be commuting to work.

We were eyeing Trinity at first, but after looking around and evaluating everything we decided to come further southwest into Palm Harbor in the Eastlake Corridor. By the brief description you gave, it sounds like that might be ideal for you as well.

Just out of curiosity, why did you pass on Trinity? Any reason specifically?

We just felt that Trinity was a little too far out from the things that we wanted. We really love the East Lake Corridor coming down 611 to and including the Countryside area, as it is close enough to all the things that we like….the beaches, shopping, restaurants, airport, family.... yet doesn't feel crammed in and as city like as the roads further down in Pinellas County.

How close to the beach time wise is considered close for you? I live in Wesley Chapel and it takes every bit of an hour and a half to get to Clearwater beaches, sometimes longer if traffic isn't ideal.

None of the three areas the OP mentioned are close to any beach...I guess the closest would be Trinity...but it still would be a hike...

Just to add my two cents, I stayed in Wesely Chapel a few weeks ago and made the drive to St Petes Beach, took less than an hour.

And for those of us who currently live 4-5 hours by air away from the beautiful gulf beaches, an hour drive is nothing
