This is so scary. I 'm so thankful that noone was hurt. Hopefully they can fix this and the homeowner can go back there house. They have to be devastated. =(

I am pretty sure if homeowner had no sinkhole coverage, his insurance will not pay for new driveway or garage repair or anything associated with sinkhole activities. The homeowner will be responsible for repairs...

Post number 10 explains what is covered under the catastrophic ground collapse coverage, which is included in all policies.

Plus, there was a post saying that there were cracks opening up in the walls of the garage at one of the houses. I think that all four criteria will be covered at this point.

Since we had to deal with insurance company once, I have my strong opinion about the way they do business. There is no such thing as common sense for them. And they will take for even even to look into your clain trying to delay it as much as possible.

Here's an update on the house:

Home condemned after sinkhole opens in Spring Hill - FOX 13 News

Living through this kind of thing is a nightmare. I feel horrible for the poor lady! Looks like they are in the process of filling in the sinkhole, and it sounds like they'll be investigating around her property to see how far it goes.

Would you advise a young family to buy a house that is labeled insured and sinkhole repaired?

I wouldn't, as there are plenty of other homes to choose from without any kind of sinkhole activity.
