So we've spent a lot of time at Honeymoon over the past five years, and have watched the storm damage and erosion do its work. Does anyone know when any beach restoration will be done, or what might be done in the future?

OK, so I asked an employee out there....the north half of the island will be closed off and on for a year while beach restoration is done. Work has already started.

Not a big fan of restoring the beaches/replenishing the sand, at least the way they do it. Holmes Beach was re-done in Feb/March and nearby sea-grasses/reefs(believe it or not there's one 300 yards from the beach) are being suffocated. All that sugary/powdery sand has landed on the reef.

Not sure if some of the sand is totally artificial either(usually it's being dredged from a couple miles out in the gulf) but it's too darn fine and white to resemble anything out there.

So the whole northern part of the beach will be closed? That's kind of a shame. The far-reaches, past most of the tourists, is the nicest part.

Well they have to. Last time were were there after a store the whole beach(sand) was gone, and it was filled in with rocks....Not a "beach" per say anymore...so they have to close it off so the can work on it, and fix it.

Yes, very rocky. Not really a beach in that area. Needs to be fixed for sure.
