2300sqft and electric runs about $300 in summer peak and $150 in non-summer. We have 3 active kids so lights and computers always on everywhere if I don't turn it off. Tons of electronics so vampire power sucking power everywhere. Washer/dryer runs just about every other day. We don't have natural gas so this covers all energy usage including cooking and water heater. New 2 yrs old A/C and thermostat is between 77/78 with pool pump running 7-8 hrs/day . House is built in '85 so windows is cheap single pane and I prob could use more insulation in the attic. Just not worth the ROI to upgrade windows tho I might look into getting more insulation.

To the OP - keep in mind that your HVAC will be the biggest sucker of power in your whole house. In my home, it uses more than everything else in the house combined, by two to three times. So you want to make sure it is a newer, more energy efficient one. The higher you can set it in the summer, the lower your bills will be.

We had a 2k sq foot, one story house, no pool. Our bills were about 150 summer, 70 winter. We kept our ac at 76/77 all day.

I have a 1980s ranch, 1700sf htd (mol) with a new AC. There are 2 of us and we have no pool but we have 2 refrigerators. We're on average billing with TECO and our bill is $130 per month. Once you settle in, get an energy audit from the electric company. It lowered our monthly bill considerably.

Yes I did that here on LI. They gave us free bulbs. Coming down on Friday for my initial visit. Trying to find out every bit of information as possible. I have really learned a lot from this forum. I am sure I will have a few more questions next week. Again with electric bills there are all sorts of variables that go into it. However its good to get an idea of what they might look like.
