Went to see the Tampa Bay Lightning last Saturday. I couldn't believe that a large beer cost $13.50 and an import cost $14.00. It's been 10 years since I have seen a live game 2004 eastern conf game 7 and back then a beer was 8.75. They don't even put the beer in a cup anymore. They let you walk around with a tall can 24oz. The beer does stay cold for a long time which is great.

As I walked around the food court areas before the game started. I could hear fans saying, "their charging 13.50 for a beer" so I know a lot of people were also surprised by the price. The stadium renovations since 2004 are awesome. You can eat and drink in a standing only area on the 1st level (at least 6 huge areas) while watching the game. They even have tv's inside those areas, but the tv's are on mute.

Overall the prices for the one game I went to were very costly and I will not go again unless there is a playoff game.

Certain games that are in high demand are expensive, but the games involving the teams that don't have snowbirders here aren't (Nashville for example)......cheap tickets for lower bowl can be found on stubhub. I've paid as little as $25-30 for a lower bowl diagonal seat.

Beer at Bucs and Rays' games aren't as high as the Bolts - but the bottles are smaller. And if you buy from a vendor in the stands, you're expected to tip. Pretty much one beer costs the same as 1-2 six packs from Walmart. For the most part, I avoid beer buying beer at the venues -

I've tried to get interested in hockey, but it isn't sticking. I've gone to more than my share of games over the last five seasons, and just can't get interested in the sport. Since I've never played it, never learned to skate, I guess I can't appreciate it as much as someone who has.

When you pay an inflated, ridiculous price for the ticket, why does it surprise you for what they charge for a beer ?

My $10 Rays ticket per game (season ticket) is nearly the same as a beer. That's what's so good about The Trop - cheap seats almost everywhere.......a new stadium will cause a x3 increase in ticket prices by my estimate and a reason why I'm not so up on building a new building for Sternberg.

Yeah well given their current state in a decrepit stadium on the wrong side of the bay, if people like you don't change their tunes, Tampa might as well kiss the Rays goodbye.
