"Minimum Wage" does NOT equal a "Livable Wage!"

That is why kids should stay in school, learn a trade or skill that will protect them from having to work in minimum wage jobs.

If they refuse to apply themselves they will suffer in the real world.

I guess when I got my first minimum wage job in high school I should of told myself " I made it". start planning that family and start looking for my first of many houses to buy. Nope, didn't happen, it was the first of many jobs till I worked my way up to better paying jobs. After my wife and I bought our first house then we started our family. We didn't complain that our minimum wage jobs didn't pay more, we just looked for better paying jobs. Quite sure that is the "plan" most in this country use. It wasn't my "plan" its the "plan" that has been used since the beginning of time. Weird, it still works!

The problem is a lot of people feel "entitled" to the house with pool and all the furnishings, 2 cars, Smartphones, vacations, wining and dining right away. They kick back and dont think about their futures.
They spend every dime they earn, they dont move up the ladder of life and they complain about how lousy the pay is, how the employer has it all while whining that they dont have any of the trimmings they expected to appear in their lives. Starting a family AFTER you've reached a point in your life where it does not become a financial burden or limit the future is smarter way to go.

Regardless of what people are making anywhere, which has nothing to do with this thread anyway, it was a very thoughtful gesture for this man to do what he did. I think that is why I like this part of the year more than most. People being kind, showing that they care and having nothing but NICE things to say to each other. What he did makes me even more proud to be living here.

Happy Holidays to everyone here on our great forum.
