offering his "lunch seminar" on financial security? Just got a letter from a "evangelistic investor" who wants to educate others about financial security beyond the stock market. Offers a free lunch to accompany his seminar/pitch at local restaurant. Well, I'm already skeptical of these type of come-ons, but wanted to know IF anyone has gotten this pitch in the mail?
Got mine yesterday, first class, blue envelope, with what looked like a legit newspaper article - however there is no "temple terrace monitor" newspaper like the page said it was from.
Please advise if you've been contacted or have info on this "investor". I did google, no luck.
Thanks for listening. p.s. consider this a "heads up" in case it's a scam.

I would never trust anyone with my money who used their religion and "investor" in the same sentence. Come to think of it, I would not trust any investor who made any mention of religion.

I know what you mean, the letter was "vague" on his title, but did have "evangelistic investor" next to his name. I did google as I said and saw no negatives, but no other info either. I was wanting to know if the area has been sent these letters, too. thanks.

They say there's no such thing as a free lunch. There is when it comes to financial seminars. They have them down where I live all the time. I've taken them up on the free steak or whatever several times when I have nothing to do. I go with the intent of learning about the investment product they're pushing (mutual funds, annuities, ROTH conversions). I don't fall for their pressure techniques and tell them up front not to make a follow-up call. Sometimes these places have asked me to return the following year for the free lunch - and I've taken them up on it.

Don't give them details of your portfolio, don't make appointments with them, and be very careful about giving out our phone and contact info because they'll pester you for awhile.
