If you were born and raised there, St. Pete will be a huge culture shock. I would suggest maybe spending a 3 day weekend there to see how you like it. I personally like it here, I'm just extremely bored after being here so long.

I mean, if I can spend a 3 day weekend in Miami every few months, you can do that up here once.

I'm actualy going this weekend. I have to let this school know my Tuesday, so I definitely want to visit, see the school, check out the neighborhood(s) and just assess the vibe and my likihood of happiness and success in St. Pete.

I'm trying to like.. tell myself i'll like it....and I think I might. I'm open to new scenery. and new ppl and a new town

Come with an open mind - you don't HAVE to take the job. Really look at everything, St. Pete has a beautiful downtown, it is lively for a small-ish city. The beaches are great. And it is a hop-skip across the bay to Tampa for Ybor City and south Tampa night life. You will have to think of it as living in the expanded Tampa Bay area; it is a fairly easy drive to go to other cities for entertainment once in awhile.

If you do decide to try St. Pete, you will probably be happiest living right in downtown. Remember, if the job is a good one and you think you will be happy doing it, that is probably more than 50% of it right there.

Good luck!

If you're into clubs, check out Suite Six... it's the most "Miami-ish" club in St. Pete, imo. Also Push Ultra Lounge is popular. And check out Jackson's on a Saturday night if you're looking to venture into Tampa. They work back and forth with Space talent a lot. Although they close at 3am, not 2pm the next day... lol. At Jackson's, you will see your typical South American and European club goers all over like in MIA.

OP-You know I was born and raised in Miami and lived in Tampa for a while and ST Pete for a bit. It's two completely different worlds. You'll need to travel into Tampa to have a nightlife and there isn't much of that. Nothing compares to Miami. However, it is nice to slow down and not deal with the rat race that Miami is.

Definitely go up there and look around and make a decision. It was just too slow for me

You clearly haven't been here for a while. Come back when you've visited within the past 7 years.

Downtown St. Pete has a ton of night life. It's always busy and they have different events going on all the time. It's not Miami, but it's still a good time and I enjoy it better than Tampa's night life.

I agree. Even though I don't live there, every time I visit, downtown is hopping. Lots of festivals happen in those beautiful waterfront parks, too. It's a great area.

It's just a shame the nice/happening part is so small.
