Plus the snowbird bums too.

I love how they're homeless, but can swing the trip to Florida.

Of course, I suppose that isn't all that hard to do if you're ok with getting a ride from Amtrak or Megabus.

I was a bit disappointed that the ride just drops you once and that's it. The best version of those rides bounce you a few times.

Does the picture I posted really look rural to you? If it does, suggest you look up the word "rural".

I lived in Miami most of my life, Tampa is very rural in direct comparison with Miami. Tampa was surrounded by green pastures full of cows until the rampant building...with what? like 8 tall buildings downtown you can't call that a "bustling city"! You may "want to", but it is far from it. There is nothing "bustling" about it! Tampa and surrounding areas are nothing more than a big suburb. However, if one never lived elsewhere, one will never understand why we who did lived elsewhere think so. There is a certain vibe that a city has to have to be called a "city". Tampa does not have that. Tampa doesn't have anything that would make anyone in a suburb want to go downtown and enjoy it. (Or be proud of it). Sea World attractions are making fun of us...

All though if we're really objective here "rural" might be just a nice word to call those areas around downtown. South Tampa is patchy, no uniformity as to either all nice, or all crap, all those businesses on Kennedy show no pride to be on that part of town, and spruce themselves up. They stash money away, and use none for visual appeal and improvement of their store fronts. The east side is abysmal. It's just crap on top of crap on top of more crap. If I was a tourist coming here from France or elsewhere, my eyes would hurt to look at east Tampa.

See the problem with Tampa, and FL as a whole, is that people just "move" here to escape the cold and have no desire to improve upon this place that they want to call home so badly. It's a shame really. The mayor is very misguided. He doesn't need new condo buildings, he needs to enforce some kind of code that won't allow these businesses to look like crap. If he wants to be "proud" of his city, he has to make it beautiful first by cleaning up the garbage before building crap on top of it. (And that means panhandlers too, which is a HUGE turn off).
