Not at all it's the only toll bridge there are three others that span the Bay with no toll. It's only a dollar anyway.

You could rent in the area for a few months before committing to buying a house so youd get a better idea of potential areas.
Northeast Pinellas county would be a good place to start looking as thats where the job will be.

Jambo: Yes, I definitely think we'll be renting before we commit.
Dunndfrnt: Isn't the expressway a toll road as well?

Can anyone give any insight to Gibsonton, Oldsmar, and/or Westchase?

Just trying to weigh all of our options

Lol! Thank you PhotoPro!

Is there a big difference in taxes from Pinellas to Hillsborough?

You're welcome;

The closer you get to the water the more expensive they get.

It just depends on the type of property, where it is, how much it cost at the time it was purchased, what's around it, and stuff of that sort...taxes are lower in Pasco because it's middle of nowhere nothing.

Thanks PhotoPro!

Can anyone tell me about Westchase, Citrus Park, or Lutz? It seems like there's going to be a commute from almost all of the places we're looking!

Where are you getting the idea that places like Lutz/Citrus Park are a good places to look when the job is in Northern St Pete.? While these places are just OK the daily commute to St Pete will get old real fast,
This is what a few of us are trying to steer you clear of =

Theres many areas in St Pete that are equivalent without the brutal daily commute. You could also try looking west to Dunedin,Tarpon Springs.Largo or Palm Harbor.

Thanks Jambo- I understand the commute will be bad (lol we're moving from Atl!) but we just aren't seeing houses in the St. Pete area in our price range, that fit what we're looking for.

Isn't a commute to Tarpon Springs, just as long- if not longer- than a commute from citrus park/carrollwood area?

I'm just going off Google maps, looking at traffic during rush hours, etc.

Thanks so much for your help!
