Hey all, been here before, finalizing my search.

Currently living in Maryland.

I am taking a job in Sarasota and my roommate will likely be taking a job in Tampa. We are looking in between Sarasota and Tampa to live, and it seems Ruskin has a ton of nice houses for rent in the $1200/month range and isn't a horrible commute.

My questions are, if you live in Ruskin, how do you like it, are there other ideal areas between Sarasota/tampa, generally speaking what do utilities come out to for a 3BR house?

Thanks in advance, I'm visiting tomorrow

Utilities depend on the age of the home. Newer build homes are more efficient. You probably can expect a $150-200/mo utility bill, and $50-150 water bill - if there's pool, much more for both bills. If you search this forum, there's been a lot of discussion on electric bills and what people are paying.

Ruskin is the pits. I'd find a place closer to Sarasota - possibly Parrish/Ellenton/Palmetto.

I rented in Apollo Beach, prior to moving to Myakka, which is part of Ruskin. The area is not that bad, but the commute to Tampa and Sarasota would be time consuming, especially when the snowbirds show up.
