Hi all. I am considering moving to Florida in a year after grad school. I'm in the mental health field. I know very little about Florida, but like the looks of St. Petersburg thus far. How is this area for someone like me...31, single, female professional? I like a low-key, safe environment that still has a night life. If anyone has any other recommendations within florida, that would be great as well!

St. Pete is a great for what you just described you like, low-key, safe environment that still has nightlife. Dowtown and to the north and east of 9th street is most desirable. Lots of waterfront shops and cafes, festivals downtown, Central Avenue bars and cafe's, numerous museums and art galleries, and theater. Only about 15 minutes to the beautiful Gulf Beaches, about 25 minutes to Tampa.
A friend of mine owned a condo in the Detroit(downtown Central Ave and 2nd Street)..it was great to walk out of his building and have all of downtown available, Jannus Landing concerts were in his backyard, Saturday Morning Fresh Farmers market and the waterfront, we walked to everything(grocery, banks, nightlife, movies, theater, restaurants, etc.)

agree totally with tampaguy, but the mental health field is not high paying here in FL
my husband is in SW and is fortunate enough to have a very good job, but they are few and far between. He was saying yesterday that looking online the best paying jobs for MSWs is around $40-45K.
