I never carry cash, I always use my debit card. The only time I had a problem was years ago when I tossed a restaurant receipt away, and at that time the receipts had all the digits and info printed on them from your account. Some girl pulled the receipt out of the trash and had a $500 weekend on my card.

The bank gave me back all the money and I did some detective work and put together a thick file on the girl who used my information. I took it to the police, including a copy of her drivers license, and they never did anything. They even said they were familiar with her, but that was the end of their investigation.

Well, I guess some folks are at it again...
(These are probably those who couldn't find a job here!)
I'm sure this problem wouldnt exist if people just went inside and paid cash or credit card to the teller inside for the amount of gas they want, basically just dont use outside payment devices attached to the outside pump.

MCD employee admit to skimming.

This is not the only case of an employee using the regular register with skimming equipment.

In Europe for years they have covers over pin pad equipment and most people paying with a debit card will cover the buttons with their other hand as security cameras and security employees can zoom in and see your pin code while putting in the digits.

Please explain how it is different when a MCD employee placed a skimming item to the register of a drive through and made 2 swipes instead of one and getting the clients cad info.

That is just as fraudulent and an issue every where when you go into the store or place to pay and restaurants have been known for having done the same when they walk off with credit or debit cards.

It all comes down to the same end result.

My wife buys a gas card with the groceries at Publix, then uses the gas card at the pump.

Safe!

I'm sure there are a plethora of issues that could be considered equally as fraudulent.
I've never heard of a skimming device at a McDonalds cash register and thought we were discussing skimmers on gas pumps where people pump their gas, swipe their card then leave..

We keep our credit locked at all times. We also have our checking account and credit card account set up to email us everytime there is a transaction, just in case. Pretty easy to keep tabs on things.
