So my wife has been in Tampa for three weeks now working near the airport. She is suffering through the 50-60 minute commute to live rent free in Lakeland but its clear we will want a shorter commute. (At the moment we are assuming I will be working from home)

We know and like many different areas however commute times will play a big part as we start to look at areas we would like to rent (We are renting before buying)

Here are some very general areas we are considering
  • Weseley Chapel, LOL, Lutz
  • Safety Harbor, Oldsmar, Westchase
  • Lithia Fishhawk, Riverview,
  • South Tampa

Pleas feel free to give us some commute times to any of these areas. Thanks for your time.

Danashores would be super close to the airport. Homes will avg around 350 to 750k on the water.

South Tampa all the way.

If only there were people on here that told you that commute would suck before you made those arrangements...

Really? Asking about commute times, not about where I can find half million dollar homes

Thanks, actually we knew it would suck but she agreed to suck it up and save the 900-1200 in rent for 4 months

Gotta love her

if you plugged in each and every one of those communities into google maps with TIA as your end destination, you'll get a fairly accurate commute time.......

I'd avoid any drive involving I-4, I-275 or Dale Mabry btw 3:30 and 6:30pm. I-75 generally slows at I-4 N7S at these hours. I live in Riverview and am lucky enough to work midnights however drive in to work at many different hospitals can be crazy. Tried looking in North Tampa suburbs in 2008, but it was like sitting in a parking lot on I-275 & I &75 North from downtown.

I take Dale Mabry daily to get to and from school. It's not terrible until the hours of 5-7 pm. Although, I can safely say that I4 has been terrible the last couple of months.

There is a setting to select the time of day for the trip which helps adjust for rush hour traffic at the times she would drive.

Totally off topic, but how is she adjusting so far? Is she happy? It has been almost 2 weeks now right?
